  • "Les Aiguilles de Port Coton" – rocky outcroppings made famous in Claude Monet paintings. He wrote: "Je suis installé dans un tout petit hameau de Belle-Ile, je travaille beaucoup, l'endroit est très beau mais très sauvage, mais la mer est incomparablement belle et accompagnée de rochers fantastiques."

  • La plage de Port-Donnant. On September 8, 1964, Faithie and I walked on the beach at Weekapaug and Misquamicut, RI, and held hands. On September 8, 2014, we celebrated the 50th anniversary of that first date by walking hand-in-hand on this beach on Belle-Île-en-Mer, an Atlantic island off the coast of France. (This should put to rest the scurrilous rumor that I don’t have a romantic bone in my body!)
